We become leaders when we accept the responsibility to protect those in our care. ~ S. Sinek

Today I had a wonderful volunteer opportunity to coach a young woman who is a new supervisor. What made it a bit challenging was it was a Skype session from California to Bejing. The connection wasn’t very good and it was difficult to fully understand some of the conversation, but when the young woman smiled, my heart melted! Her English was quite good and when I told her that, she blushed.

Her leadership struggles aren’t any different than leadership struggles in America. We talked about encouragement, motivation and holding people accountable. While a bit timid in her actions, she is doing all of the right things. I am so proud of her efforts and her willingness to learn to be a better leader.

We are all work in progress, and that work (especially as a leader) is to help others be successful. When we provide support and protection, even in the smallest of ways, those that we are leading find the courage to be bold!

Here’s to being bold!!
