Shout out for The Ideal Team Player

Shout out for the book, The Ideal Team Player, by Patrick Lencioni.  In his easy-going, simple style, Lencioni shares the essence of team, through the three virtues that all team players must have – humility, hunger and people smarts.

Through the fable, Lencioni breaks  down elements within an organization, building a new culture by defining the elements of what a true team player is.  He looks at everything from identifying, hiring and developing what the ideal team player looks like and ties it all together so team members work in unison, building unity and supporting each other along the way.  No silos here and what a simple model!  Lencioni also provides tools and resources for the reader, always tying back to being humble, being hungry and being people smart.

As I read each page, it became a textbook for me, highlighting, underlining and annotating so many key points.   It is a great reminder of how we are all work in progress when it comes to being a an ideal team player, regardless of whether your team is your family, your work colleagues, or your group of friends.   How you show up makes all the difference.
