What Coaching Isn’t
Coach G’s (HoopsTalk Coach G) blog ‘Instilling age old values in modern times” resonated with me and while I think his intent was about coaching in the “sports sense,” it connects to leadership coaching in so many ways. Enjoy!
What Coaching Isn’t
Coaching is not… something you do, it’s something you are.
Coaching is not… a “punch time clock” job. It has no set hours.
Coaching is not… about egos, personal glory or agendas. It’s about serving others.
Coaching is not… a job you get into with the sole focus of making loads of money. It’s more about outcomes rather than income.
Coaching is not… about what is best for you. It’s about what is best for the individual and his/her team.
Coaching is not… all about championships and silverware, it’s about “people care.”
Coaching is not… all about the Xs and Os… it’s about the Ps and Ss (people and standards).
Coaching is not… about the destination, it’s about the journey and lessons learned along the way.
Coaching is not… about you, it’s about others and those you coach.
Coaching is not… a job, it’s a vocation and a calling.
Speaks to me. Right to my core.
